California Rifle & Pistol Association Gives Alameda County Sheriff An Ultimatum on Second Amendment Violations
In a release the CRPA stated: after months of urging of the Alameda County (California) Sheriff’s office to get their CCW application and issuance processes in line with the Bruen standard, CRPA delivered a final ultimatum to the newly sworn-in sheriff that gives just two weeks to comply. In a letter dated yesterday, CRPA details the laundry list of ways that the county’s CCW process violates the Constitution and includes a draft of CRPA’s complaint that would be filed if the county fails to bring it’s policies in line with the new standard.
The effort in Alameda County is the latest milestone in CRPA’s ongoing statewide efforts to ensure that all 58 California counties are compliant with the Constitution as now interpreted through the Bruen decision. Quite frankly, many counties’ CCW processes have violated the Second Amendment for decades, and CRPA has fought those battles all along. Long delays, invasive prerequisites, limits on number of firearms, and new iterations of the now-defunct “good cause” requirements are just a few of the tactics employed to prevent law-abiding citizens from exercising their fundamental rights.
